Issue 01 · Fall 2026

The first one.

and it's about you.

Sixty-odd pages made for one neighbourhood: the people, the places, the arguments and the map. Here's what's going in it.

On the cover

One block, one story, told properly.

Every issue opens with a Kitsilano business and the people behind the counter — how they got here, what nearly closed them, and why they stayed on this street instead of a cheaper one. Shot on their own sidewalk, in their own words, over about two thousand of them.

It is not an ad, and it can't be bought as one. If a business is on the cover, it's because the neighbourhood pointed us at them.

The line-up

Six things in every issue.

01

The Cover Story

One Kitsilano business, the people behind the counter, and how they ended up on this block. Shot on their own sidewalk, told in their own words.

02

Insider Guides

The patios worth the wait, the new openings, the quiet spots locals guard. The stuff you'd text a friend — collected in print.

03

The Kits Map

A hand-illustrated map of the neighbourhood, from Jericho to Burrard, with every local business on it. This is the page people pin to the fridge.

04

Neighbours

Short profiles of the people who make Kits feel like Kits — the lifeguard, the market grower, the guy who's run the same shop for thirty years.

05

The Calendar

What's on between now and the next issue: markets, festivals, community meetings, and the first properly warm weekend of the year.

06

The Directory

Every local business in the issue, organized and easy to find. The neighbourhood's phone book, minus everything you'd skip.

How it gets made

From doorknock to doorstep.

  1. Now

    Reporting

We're out on 4th, on Broadway and down at the beach, working through reader nominations and knocking on doors.

  2. Three weeks out

    Ad deadline

Pages close. Every advertiser has their artwork designed, proofed and signed off — most of them by us, at no charge.

  3. Press

    Printing

Printed on heavy stock with a matte cover, because a magazine that feels cheap gets recycled and one that doesn't gets kept.

  4. Fall 2026

    Delivery

Canada Post carries it to every address inside the boundary over a few days. Extra copies go out to counters around the neighbourhood the same week.
